The ACL Global Project ("ACL," "we," "us," or "our") is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information through livewithacl.org and related services. It also explains your privacy rights and how you can contact us with questions.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, Brazil, or another jurisdiction with applicable privacy laws, this Privacy Policy is intended to comply with those laws, including, where applicable, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and Brazil's Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD).

The ACL Global Project is the data controller for the information described in this policy.

2. What information we collect
We collect only the information we need to operate our programs and communicate with people who choose to engage with us.
- Information you provide directly: your name, email address, and any message you choose to send when you subscribe to our newsletter, register for an event or certification program, submit an application (including the Belonging Fund), make a donation, or contact us.
- Payment information: payments are processed by our payment providers. We receive confirmation of your transaction and limited transaction records. We do not collect or store your full payment card information.
- Information collected automatically: with your consent, analytics tools collect information about website usage, including pages viewed, approximate geographic region inferred from your IP address, browser and device type, and interactions.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, including health information, mental health information, or other special-category personal data through our website or registration forms. Please do not include this type of information in messages sent through our contact forms.
3. Why we use your information and our legal basis
- Newsletter updates — consent.
- Program registration — performance of a contract.
- Donations — contract and legal obligation.
- Belonging Fund applications — consent and/or steps prior to contract.
- Responding to enquiries — legitimate interest.
- Website security — legitimate interest.
- Website analytics — consent.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies and, with your consent, Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Clarity is configured to mask information typed into forms and is not used to identify individual visitors. You may change your cookie preferences at any time through the link in the website footer.
5. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information.
We share it only with trusted providers operating under Data Processing Agreements where required: Kit, Airtable, Resend, Cloudflare, DonorBox, Paythen, Google Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity. We may also disclose information if required by law.
6. International data transfers
ACL and its providers are primarily based in the United States. Where required by law, transfers are protected through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You may request additional information about these safeguards.
7. How we protect and retain your information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information.
Retention:
- Newsletter contacts: until you unsubscribe.
- Enrollment and payment records: 7 years.
- Donation records: 7 years.
- Contact enquiries: 2 years.
- Analytics data: Google Analytics up to 14 months; Microsoft Clarity according to configured retention settings.
8. Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdraw consent where applicable.

If you are located in the EEA or the United Kingdom, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
If you are located in Brazil, you may also submit a complaint to the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD), Brazil's National Data Protection Authority.
9. Children
Our website, programs, and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through our website.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify subscribers by email.
